Recent commissions
A handful of projects from the last year, described rather than photographed, because a book is easiest to judge in the hand.
Summer cottage guest book
Two hundred pages of heavy cotton paper, sewn on tapes, in grey linen with a debossed lake outline. Delivered in four weeks.
A grandmother's recipe notebook
Water-damaged and split in three. Pages washed, mended with Japanese tissue and resewn into the original cover.
Choir score folders
Twelve identical portfolios in dark green cloth with ribbon ties, made for a Helsinki amateur choir.
Letters in a clamshell box
Sixty years of correspondence, interleaved with buffered tissue and housed in a made-to-measure archival box.
Prices and timing
Every project is quoted in advance. As a rough guide, a hand-sewn journal starts at around sixty euros, repairs start at thirty-five, and archival boxes depend on size. Prices include VAT and materials. A deposit of one third is requested for custom work.
Typical timelines: simple repairs two to three weeks, new books three to five weeks, leather work up to eight weeks.
Weeks before Christmas and midsummer fill up first. How to commission
- Send a short description and, for repairs, two or three photographs.
- Receive a proposal with materials, a fixed price and a delivery estimate.
- Drop off or post the item; we confirm its arrival in writing.
- Collect it from the workshop, or we ship it packed flat between boards.
